Tea Cups

I can't possibly look at that bug any longer so will show you this lovely tea cup quilt my dear friend Donna (no blog) gave me before she moved over to Victoria a few years ago. It has a great hanger to go with it and I can't imagine why I didn't take the photo with it. Never mind. Another time. Have lots to do today so hope you all have a relaxing Sabbath.
Cheers

The Sub Tropical Drawback

Yes, the weather here in Perth is lovely and it seldom gets incredibly cold (relatively speaking of course) but the drawback is the amazingly large, creepy bugs we get. Don't even know what this one is. This is about the fourth one in 12 years (thankfully). Normally we spray the bug then set the can on top for a while until the bug stops moving (after all the screaming and running by us of course - not the bug). With this one the can actually started to tip as it fought the poison (more screaming) and we had to weight the can. This is the bug the next day (thankfully dead). I won't even mention the flying cockroaches that are this size...
Not so cheerfully :>)

Pink Blocks Quilts
PS I am on the left and Teena is on the right. She's the wonder woman who coordinated our efforts and donated a massive amount of fabric to the cause!

Teeny Tiny Squares Quilt Swap

I've had a bit of a dilemma with my Teeny Tiny Squares Quilt Swap as my recipient does not have a blog and I've been trying to decide what to do when I don't have a clue except where she lives. So I decided to go with a scrappy blue nine-patch. The individual squares will be one inch. The off-white fabric at the top is the 'background'. I will use a dark blue sashing between the nine-patches, although I haven't decided yet how wide it will be. The nine-patches will measure three inches square and I will set them six by six. The overall quilt will be hopefully less than 24 inches - which is just about the maximum size allowed for the challenge. I think the blues will work well together and am now looking forward to getting down to the business of getting it done. I seem to need to put a lot of mental time into these things before I actually cut.
Cheers

Proximidade!

This blog invests and believes in Proximity- nearness in space, time and relationships.
These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends .
Our hope is that when the ribbon of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated.
I think I'm getting a bit carried away, but I do so enjoy sharing my days with you all, and everyone else I've not mentioned. My allotted computer time is nearly finished so must away to other tasks. I wish you all a very restful/productive weekend.

What's on my Sidebar?

Bunny Hill Designs is hosting a free Block of the Month that is just too cute. Baskets feature each month. The first has a snowman in a basket that is adorable.

Ellen is hosting a free Block of the Month with designs that can either be stitched or appliqued. I fell in love with the little snowman that is the first one.

I've also decided to add the link to Geninne's Art Blog. She's an amazing artist who lives in Mexico City. Her work so totally appeals to me...

And of course there is the Teeny Tiny Squares Quilt Swap, The Black and White Quilt Challenge Project, and the Red Delicious BOM (which is due to be updated on the 15th!).
What do you have on your sidebar?
Cheers

Home Again
A big thank you for all your birthday wishes... it was so nice to hear all your little stories. I'm sure you are all anxious to hear who won my little giveaway. The winner is Purple and Paisley! This is really funny as Terri's birthday is the same day as mine! Congratulations!
I decided to draw a second prize and the winner is Christine! Congratulations! Your mystery prize will come along shortly!!
I'm still recovering from my time away and feel a little brain dead so not much in the way of a post for today.
Now must try to catch up with all your doings!
Cheers

Happy Birthday to Me
This is me at Sweet 16 within a few days of meeting my husband. This is his Sandman. Did every parent of a teenage daughter just have a heart attack? He was a perfect gentleman, almost. lol
My birthday is on Wednesday, 7 January and as I am away from the 3rd to the 10th I'll be off-line for the whole week. Not sure if we'll be able to get any access (or even want to) so I decided to have a quiet little giveaway.
To enter just leave a comment on this post sometime from the 3rd of January to 6:00pm the 10th of January (my time). To be eligible you must tell me a memorable birthday moment, i.e. a special gift, an event, a disaster, a cake, you forgot your own birthday (hey - that's happened to me!) The winner will receive this book, Victory Quilts by Eleanor Burns. If I find something cool on my trip I might throw that in as well. Who knows?
I took the photo of this book in Mr Fixit's workshop. The light was great. He has a round Ott-Lite with a magnifying glass in the middle which is also great for taking splinters out of little feet...I'll be thinking of you all and hope you all have a boring week with lots of time for sewing and laughing! And please go and say Happy Birthday to Terri over at Purple and Paisley. She and I were born on the exact same day, but we're not saying how old we are...
Cheers!
