Quilt Show 1

I've prepared six posts with a few of the quilts that caught my eye. As usual there were many, many wonderful quilts (over 200 to look at) and I could in no way show you everything. I took a few photos of quilts that caught my eye. I only had my phone camera with me, but I think they are mostly ok to look at.

Craft Fair Workshops

I completed three workshops this year.
A fabric flower, a fabric and bead butterfly and a small purse.
I took a few photos of quilts with my phone which I am organising to post.
It was a good show, but overall attendance and number of vendors was down.
Low economy and online shopping?

Note to Self...

Do not confuse leave-in hair conditioner with deodorant...

While not harmful, it won't keep you smelling fresh.

Although this may be necessary by the end of winter... stay tuned.

In other news, look at this gorgeous knife.

A beautiful bright orange in keeping with the colour of the year.

It's technically a steak knife, but we use it on bread.

Lovely winter vegies ready for roasting...

For our dining pleasure we have potato, sweet potato, pumpkin, carrot, yellow squash, mushroom and garlic, although it looks like I forgot the garlic. Roasted garlic is very good.

In other news, I'm off to the quilt show tomorrow. I'm booked for a couple of classes and will see the quilts. It feels odd as this is the first year since 2006 that I haven't been there everyday involved in the running of it. Interesting to be a 'civilian' this year.

Also of note, I won an awesome prize recently but haven't had a chance to do a photo and post yet. Hopefully early next week. When you see it, you'll want one too.

I-Spy Finished

I put the last stitch in the binding last night while watching Revenge.

I clipped it to the fence to photograph it.

The colours really pop in the shady sunshine.

I think a certain 2 year old boy will love it (hopefully).

Here is the pieced back.

It's quilted in straight lines.

Approximately 49 inches square.

Amy's Spring Quilt Festival

This is my entry for Amy's Spring Festival.

Photographed in the sun, you can see all the stitching lines.

Photographed in the shade (below), the colours and lines are softened.

It is so hard to get good photos of the quilt.

This pattern is from the book Skinny Quilts and Tablerunners.

The pattern is By The Sea by Karen Eckmeier.

I made this quilt for Chookyblue's Secret Santa Christmas Swap 2010 for Floss.

Floss is an Australian married to a Canadian. In looking through her blog to choose a theme for her, I discovered she misses the beaches of Oz and takes every opportunity to get her feet wet when any kind of beach appears, even in winter (yikes!). So this quilt is for Floss to have a bit of the beach with her wherever she goes.

There are a few close-up shots in my post here.

I really enjoyed making this quilt. Karen's instructions were great and I learned that it doesn't take a professional quilter (I am so not) to get great results. This is the first time I tried embellishing a quilt as well. Those are real seashells there!

I'm definitely going to make another!

Not Much Happening

Not much to share - the day job as usual. The car getting tweaked but basically ok and nearly on the road. Hand stitching the binding is progressing. The days are definitely getting cool and the nights cold. Winter will soon be upon us. Here is a lovely summer-ish photo for you to look at until I have something worthy to share. This was taken in the John Forrest National Park in 2010.

Postage Stamp Charms

Holiday Snap

I can't have you looking at my poor car so I've found a holiday snapshot from a few years ago. It was taken at Walpole, Western Australia in January 2006.

I'm still working on the quilting, but have been delayed by life and extra work shifts etc.

De-Constructed Car

Mr Fixit is living up to his name. Here is the state of my car with its guts scattered all over the garage. Hopefully by the end the old dear will be set for another 20 years (the car, not the husband).

Here is one of the gadgets which will fit in to one of the sockets shown in my last post. This gadget will turn your old FM radio into an mp3 player. It tunes in to one of the un-used FM frequencies. It takes a stick or a usb. There's even a remote control. About $7 on e-bay.

Fortunately I have this cheeky monkey to keep me company. Progress is being made when I'm not playing grease monkey. I'm getting pretty good at fetching a bent 12 or a socket extension (not that long one - the other really long one). And of course the requisite cups of tea and ginger nut biscuits. I have a feeling I'll finish my quilt before he finishes my car.

I do believe the washing machine has stopped, so away I must. Hope you all have a great rest of the week!
