Bunbury International Quilt Challenge Winners

I was lucky to attend the Bunbury International Quilt Challenge last weekend. The challenge involves making a small quilt to a theme and using the challenge fabric, plus your own fabric, to interpret the theme.
Here are some of the quilts.
First place (above) 'Aurora Borealis' by Peg Pennall
Second place (below) "A Stellar Wonderland' by Helen Wheeler
Third place 'What Really Happens Down Under' by Prue Wheal
Highly commended 'Underwater Wonderland' by Jan Rowe
Judges' commendation 'Icecream and Lollyland' by Lana Lefroy

Gnomesville

On our short holiday we went to Gnomesville, which is this amazing place where people from all over Australia and the world leave a gnome. It's located near a roundabout in the middle of the Ferguson Valley just over a half hour drive inland from Bunbury.

The story goes that the roundabout was constructed after a mock council meeting held by the students at the local high school. Evidently the council decided they made a good argument and actually built the roundabout.

There's a little question as to which local woman left the first gnome in the roundabout. One quickly became two and before you knew it there was a gnome footy game. As the spot became more popular it was decided that having the gnomes in the roundabout was too dangerous and they were moved to the road verge. From there they spread out hundreds of metres along the verge and a little way in to the private property adjoining the verge.

This is the Welsh flag. These gnomes came a very long way!

This is the gnome we placed for our family.

We hope he likes his home among the gumtrees.

Become Who You Are

We saw this sign at the Dalyellup Primary School near Bunbury, Western Australia. Click on the photo for a better picture.
I would imagine the kids and teachers who see it every day would be inspired to be true to who they are.
There's a lot to share from our trip and I hope to do so in the next week or so. Not much computer time available!

Short Holiday

Today we are off to Busselton for a few days away. We will be in our tent in a caravan park.

While in the region we will be visiting Gnomesville.

We will catch up with friends too.

But of course, this is the main draw card.

See you all next week!

Happy Anniversary of the Wedding Kind

Here I am at Christmas 1980. Almost 17.

I didn't know it then but I had just met the love of my life.

We eventually sorted ourselves out and we married on this day in 1989.

Here we are Mother's Day last year.

Happy Anniversary Max.

I know you peek at my blog.

Loving you still and always will.
