QW11 No. 16

I showed you this one before. This quilt was made by the one male member of our Association. Ross Ellis is a retired occupational therapist and stated in a recent radio interview that he finds quilting a great creative outlet and that he used to quilt on his lunch hour when still at work.
This quilt has won five awards at this exhibition. Best applique, best hand quilting, President's Choice, Viewers' Choice and Members' Choice. Here is a little of the detail to show you why...

This is all reverse applique...

I can see why this quilt has won so many awards - it's really amazing! The applique, the quilting, wonderful. The whole effect is visually stunning!

I am very impressed by the techniques and contrast, but the quilt does not make me happy.
