Here are some more blue nine patches. Each square is one inch for a three inch finished block.

Blue Square #1

3 1/2 inch square

Edit: This is a Teeny Tiny Squares block so each square is one inch so the block will be 3 inch finished - this went together very quickly and it is so small I didn't need to use any pins. Now that the test block is done I'm getting ready to chain piece the rest... Shari

Pink Blocks Quilts

I've just got home from work and found that the lovely Louise (no blog) has sent through photos of our pink block quilts that we worked on last week. You may remember I blogged about these blocks some time back. So far we have six tops and blocks for at least two more. I've got all the 'too-hard' blocks at home now. You know the ones I mean... and I'm too nice to say any more on that. The quilts will be given either directly to someone known to someone or to the oncology unit. One or two of the best constructed may end up being raffled for research. So enjoy looking and we'll catch up again soon! Hugs from Shari

PS I am on the left and Teena is on the right. She's the wonder woman who coordinated our efforts and donated a massive amount of fabric to the cause!

Teeny Tiny Squares Quilt Swap

I've had a bit of a dilemma with my Teeny Tiny Squares Quilt Swap as my recipient does not have a blog and I've been trying to decide what to do when I don't have a clue except where she lives. So I decided to go with a scrappy blue nine-patch. The individual squares will be one inch. The off-white fabric at the top is the 'background'. I will use a dark blue sashing between the nine-patches, although I haven't decided yet how wide it will be. The nine-patches will measure three inches square and I will set them six by six. The overall quilt will be hopefully less than 24 inches - which is just about the maximum size allowed for the challenge. I think the blues will work well together and am now looking forward to getting down to the business of getting it done. I seem to need to put a lot of mental time into these things before I actually cut.

Cheers

Happy Quilty 2009!

My first post for the New Year is to show you what lovely Cindy has sent me. I recently won a giveaway on her blog Down on the Farm.

First take a look at this really cute stamp that was on the envelope.

It was attratively wrapped in this old-world tissue paper.

Inside was this calendar...

three beautiful fat quarters...

and this stunning little quilt!

Thank you so much Cindy!! What a great gift to receive and a happy start to 2009!

Cheers
