Originally from Nebraska, I have lived in Oz since 1989. I love to quilt in my spare time. My days are filled with family and friends and of course, the 'day job'. My list of 'to do one day' seems to get longer all the time... but my motto is 'Never give up! Never surrender!' I will, one day, use everything in my stash... you believe me, don't you?
It must be Christmas in everyone's hearts! Summer Sadie just posted about Christmas fabric and is having a giveaway with it. http://summersadie.wordpress.com/2009/07/06/christmas-in-july/
After reading her post I pulled some fabric to make 2 Christmas throw quilts for wedding gifts. Now I read about it here. Funny!
I would poke myself if I tried this with the pins. LOL!
On small projects I use basting spray. Quick and easy and holds the layers nicely for machine quilting. The bad thing is that it is a bit smelly and must be sprayed outside or in a well ventilated room. I would surely poke myself with straight pins!
I've never tried this! Doesn't your machine needle sometimes get stuck in the pins? That's trouble I have when leaving the pins in the quilt while sewing. Bth, I love Kat!

I should try that- it would certainly be faster. I'd probably hurt myself though.

What a cute group of Christmas fabrics. Even on smaller ones I still pin baste. I find I poke myself too many times with straight pins.
Definitely a good day to be basting, when it rains. As far as basting, that is one thing I am glad I no longer have to do.
